Washing & Care Instructions

Learn how to wash and care for your DTF printed products the right way. Easy washing, drying, and ironing tips to keep your DTF prints vibrant and long-lasting.

Why Proper DTF Care Matters

Direct-to-Film (DTF) printing is one of the most durable and vibrant printing methods available. Whether you’ve purchased a personalised cushion, t-shirt, or hoodie, proper care will keep your prints looking fresh and colourful for years to come.

This guide covers the best washing instructions for DTF prints, as well as drying, ironing, and storage tips to maximise their life.

Washing Instructions for DTF Printed Products

  • Turn Inside Out

Always turn garments inside out before washing. This reduces friction against the print and helps prevent peeling or cracking.

  • Cold Wash or 30°C

Use cold water (or a gentle cycle at 30°C). Hot water can weaken the adhesive and cause the design to fade faster.

  • Mild Detergent Only

Harsh detergents, bleach, or fabric softeners can break down the ink. Stick to gentle detergents for best results.

  • Avoid Overloading the Machine

Overcrowding creates more rubbing and stress on the printed area. Give your items space to move freely.

Drying Instructions

  • Air Dry is Best

Hang your DTF printed items to dry naturally. Heat from tumble dryers is the number one cause of peeling.

  • If You Must Use a Dryer…

Use the lowest heat setting possible and remove items while still slightly damp.

Ironing Tips for DTF Prints

  • Never Iron Directly on the Print

If ironing is needed, turn the item inside out or cover the design with a clean cloth.

  • Low Heat Setting

High heat can melt or distort the design. Stick to the lowest heat that still gets the job done.

Storage Advice

  • Fold with Care

Avoid folding directly across printed areas whenever possible.

  • Store in a Cool, Dry Place

Keep items away from direct sunlight and dampness to preserve the colour and fabric quality.

Extra Tips to Maximise Longevity

  • Wash similar colours together to prevent staining.

  • Avoid harsh scrubbing or spot-cleaning directly on the print.

  • For cushions and home décor, use a soft cloth for gentle cleaning instead of repeated machine washing.

Final Thoughts

DTF prints are built to last—but with the right care, your personalised products will look just as good months (and even years) from now as the day you bought them.
